Today marks Youth Mental Health Day (YMHD), an awareness day aiming to bring the everyday struggles of our young people into the spotlight – a message we can really get behind here at FORmE.
From changes in hormones, navigating new friendships, and experiencing social pressures, it’s true that our teenage years can be one of the most difficult stages of life – without mentioning the added disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic.
FORmE aims to support Youth Mental Health Day, every day, by giving us the tools and confidence to be completely who we are, even on our bad days. Focusing on the importance of self-love, confidence, and protecting your mind, FORmE founder, Dan, shares four important rules to live by this Youth Mental Health Day:
- Believe in yourself, your abilities, and your ideas – you are the key to battling your own anxieties.
- Understand and accept yourself for who you are – you don’t need to change for anyone or conform to their opinions.
- You are in competition with only yourself - if you are proud of your accomplishments, you will always accomplish more.
- Being confident doesn’t mean being the loudest person in the room but feeling the most confident inside. That’s what matters the most.
It’s true that any one of us can struggle with mental health, and for that reason, we need to encourage each other to talk more in order to be the best version of ourselves.
Being proud of yourself is an essential part of your happiness – remember that.
FORmE wants to remind young people that although life can feel challenging at times, things can get better if we choose to put ourselves first. Ultimately, it’s who you see in the mirror that matters the most.
Let’s #StrideForward together.
